Bellaire Public Library

Library Showcase:

Come to Bellaire and see for yourselves,
The wonderful books on our library shelves.

They're stored in neat rows and easy to find,
Non-fiction and Fiction of most ev'ry kind.

Reference, or data, or a movie review,
Or famous biographies waiting for you.

There's wisdom, there's facts, there's fiction galore,
Travel and paperbacks, history and more.

There's books with fine pictures of faraway lands,
And books for the craftsman who works with his hands.

We have the best sellers you've seen at the mall,
Put your name on our list and wait 'til we call.

There's magazines too and comfortable chairs,
And a handicap entrance without any stairs.

There are footstools to stand on to reach the high racks,
And the ten-forty forms that you need for your tax.

And everyone's welcome as much as at home,
Whether coming by bus or surrounded by chrome.

Your library card is the same as a key,
To unlock entertainment and knowledge that's free.

Find romance, or tears, or a mystery thriller,
Or study the mural by Mary Guntzviller.

And young adults too have books of their own,
There's large print books also and tapes that we loan.

Entertainment for all, to the tiniest tot,
Who giggle at stories and like it a lot.

The Friends of the Library welcome you too,
Read their newsletter and see what they do.

Book groups meet, too, there's more than just one,
You're welcome to join and take part in the fun.

The card file system is now out of date,
We have a computer the same as downstate.

Our books are barcoded and indexed so it seems,
And sensed by devises with red laser beams.

We've computers and screens and even a mouse,
And internet access that's right here in-house.

The lighting is good and the bathrooms are clean,
If you go there yourself you will see what I mean.

The staff is most helpful, they smile as they say,
"Your overdue book will be five cents a day."

It's a world in a building, collected on shelves,
Come to Bellaire and see for yourselves

James Wilson –Bellaire Public Library patron

Community support, happy patrons, and an active friends group contribute to making the Bellaire Community Library a friendly, community orientated library. A happy patron of theirs, James Wilson, wrote the poem above.

Support from a local business is making their current project possible. Their Friends of the Library has recently purchased new shelving for their reference department and thanks to a donation from the Bay Winns Federal Credit Union they have $1,000 to purchase new reference material.

We salute Bellaire Public Library for all they have done for their community and are proud to have them as a member of the Mid-Michigan Library League.
