Top ten reason to visit the McBain Community Library.
# 10 Reason: McBain area
The drive into McBain is beautiful. There are rolling pastures, cows grazing, tractors driving down the county roads, and children playing in yards. A word of caution, keep the windows rolled up, the smell is not always as pleasant as the scenery.
# 9 Reason: Seating
Soon, you will transformed by their furniture. Adults will be able to enjoy plush and luxurious seating and children will be able to conduct in a customize built train.
# 8 Reason: Library Collection
You can search their collection while at home. So, why do you have to go to the library: to pick up the book you found on-line.
# 7 Reason: Building
The building is beautiful. It was built in 1995 and replaced the previous location of the library which was in a classroom in the school. The facility has an open floor plan, and a fine collection of books and materials, and current technology. They are a public school library which is a testament to the visionary spirit of their community.
# 6 Reason: Authors
You can learn more about your favorite author. Each month the library features an author which includes information about their life, activities, and interesting facts. This month’s featured author is C.S. Lewis.
# 5 Reason: The staff
New Director Teresa Hill and Assistant Diane Eisenga share their enthusiasm for the library with all. Teresa Hill began working as the Director in July of this year and brings innovative and new ideas to the library. Lou Collins, Teresa’s predecessor, cherished the library and was well organized which made for a smooth transition. Diane Eisenga has worked with the library since it opened and gives a personal and responsive touch to the library service.
# 4 Reason: Stories
Stories are made and read at the Library. Whether the stories are being read by Mrs. Bachman (wife to the Superintendent) each Tuesday, or stories are being told among the children, the library is a place to let the imagination run free.
# 3 Reason: Art:
There is no need to travel to Chicago or New York City to see upcoming and fresh art; an art gallery is located at the library.. The library just opened an art gallery which features art and soon writings of the McBain area students.
# 2 Reason: Energy
Instead of reaching for a cup of coffee, go to the library. With 3 to 4 classes of children visiting the library each day, energy currents flow through the building.
# 1 Reason: Value
The McBain Community serves all, at no cost; children go to the library to learn to read, research their homework, talk with the staff, interact with the community, learn new ideas, expand their knowledge, and travel to different worlds. And for those children whose age numbers are over 18, they are welcome to visit the library for the same reasons.
