Public Relations Libraries are vital to the economic health of Michigan. The Mid-Michigan Library League is a resource which provides services to help libraries serve their communities. The members of MMLL work together to share resources and provide quality services to their users. MMLL is funded through State Aid dollars. As the State of Michigan has seen their revenues decrease, they have cut State Aid to help balance the budget. We believe that funding of libraries is essential for a strong State. We encourage all to advocate for funding for libraries and cooperatives. The libraries that we work with operate with limited funds. Often times they are unable to provide the "extras" to their community which can enrich the lives of the residents and have far reaching affects. We encourage businesses and individuals to donate to MMLL for specific projects. We have the infrastructure in place where we can filter the donation quickly and effectively to all of our 47 public library members. For example, libraries would appreciate a donation to help them fund library programs. Those interested in seeing a sample of presenters for programs are welcome to attend the annaul Library Showcase. One hundred percent of donations made to the organization are used for the specific project or program that the donation is made for. In March of 2006, the cooperative organized a book drive to help the Biloxi Public Library in Mississippi. Along with 25,000 books being donated, $3,000 was donated to the cause. The funds were used to transport the book to Biloxi Mississippi. Several organizations donated time and resources to the cause. Donations made to the Mid-Michigan Library League are tax deductible as the organization has 501c3 status. The organization is listed on the justgive.org site.
