The Library of Michigan Public Library Services 2022 grant program is open! Highlights are below. We recommend reading the documentation thoroughly before applying as there are significant changes from the previous years. The Improving Access to Information grant program will also be available in 2022. Information will be posted on that program in March.

Public Library Services 2022 Grant program - This program provides funding for public libraries to purchase materials and supplies that meet the selected program topics for a given year and are for an identified program or service the library will provide. The intent is to supplement local topical programs that improve information access and quality of service in their communities. The expected focus will be on small projects that improve community services in one of the three priorities listed below and that align with the LSTA priorities listed in the grant documentation.

  • Literacy programs
  • Children and Teen programs
  • Technology programs

Grant Details:

  • Applications are due Monday, March 7th by 5:00 PM EST. 
  • Branch locations remain eligible for grants, however, this year ALL branch applications must be submitted and managed by the main or administrative branch.
  • A UEI (Unique Entity Identifier) number from SAM.gov is REQUIRED on the application.
  • Funding will be from $500 to $2,000 per location. 
  • Funding is by reimbursement only. 
  • Eligible applicants are Michigan public libraries that are legally established and currently eligible for state aid. 
  • The grant period is from mid-April to September, with expenditures complete by August. 

An application webinar will be held Monday, February 14th at 10:00 AM. Registration is on the Public Library Services grants page. The grant program is lightly competitive. Applications and all accompanying documents are submitted online.
